What we use to design the car
The software we need is free for students; what sponsors fund is the physical kit, equipment and logistics, not licenses.
Autodesk Fusion Free
Official CAD/CAM/CAE partner of STEM Racing. This is where we model the car part by part and prepare machining toolpaths.
Ansys Student Free
Includes Ansys Discovery, the tournament's official CFD partner. We simulate airflow over the car before manufacturing each version.
Computing equipment
CFD simulations demand equipment with strong graphics capability: this is one area where a sponsor's support directly speeds up our work.
Development Class kit
Official model block for the body, CO₂ cartridges, axles and eyelets; the car is machined from this kit.
